Arts and Creative Industries
On 17 February 2026, Ambassador of France to South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, H.E. David Martinon, hosted a reception in Cape Town to highlight French galleries visiting the Investec Cape Town Art Fair. Held at the Roche Bobois showroom, the event brought together guests from galleries, museums, auction houses and the broader art community.

Five French galleries are exhibiting in Cape Town for the Art Fair. The Norm Agency, represented by Erick Acosta and accompanied by South African artist Morné Visagie, presented its work with contemporary artists from the African continent and diaspora. Galerie Eric Dupont, active since the 1990s, highlighted an international programme including artists such as Taysir Batniji and Roméo Mivekannin. Double V Gallery, based in Marseille and Paris and represented on the night by Nicolas Veidig Favarel with artist Renske Linders, outlined its support for a new generation of painters. The Bridge Gallery’s director Vianney Salzac introduced an emerging programme focused on international artists with links to Africa, while Florian Azzopardi of Afikaris described the gallery’s commitment to artists from the continent and its diaspora.

In his address, Ambassador Martinon underlined France’s long-standing engagement with contemporary art and reiterated the intention to continuously deepen links with the South African art scene.

The reception was supported by Roche Bobois, Bertha Wines and Stellenbosch Wine Route.
