La Fabrique Cinéma supports emerging filmmakers on the international market. La Fabrique Cinéma of the French Institute is launching an international call for entries for ten directors and producers who are developing their first or second feature film. The selected participants will be invited to the Cannes Film Festival to take part in an intensive programme of personalised coaching. This programme at the Festival is aimed to help finance the selected projects through individual meetings with French and international producers as well as group meetings with professionals, in partnership with the Cannes Film Festival and the parallel selections. This “French-South-African Video Game meetups” project is a continuation of the first meetings organized in 2022 by the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) and Business France, with the support of the French Institute in Paris. The objective of these meetings is to allow companies to better understand the South African and international gaming market, to stimulate opportunities on the continent, and to work with South African partners on the structuring of their ecosystem, for example through partnership agreements between incubators. The call for entries for La Fabrique Cinéma 2022 is online!

La Fabrique Cinéma has been created by the Institut français, in partnership with France Médias Monde, the SACEM (French society of authors, composers and publishers of music) and the International Organisation of La Francophonie to support new talented filmmakers from Southern and emerging countries. This programme has been developed in close association with the Festival de Cannes and the Marché du Film. Ten projects in development (1st or 2nd feature film) are selected and invited to Cannes. The aim is to create concrete opportunities for these projects by providing access to different activities and personalized support through one-to-one and group meetings with key players in the film industry.
