Conversations, creativity and community at Dibukafé

Arts and Creative Industries

Dibukafé continues to host a varied programme of discussions, workshops and exhibitions, bringing together audiences around cultural, educational and social themes in the heart of Braamfontein.

On 22 April, Dibukafé welcomed the South African Youth Association of Global Affairs (SAYAGA) and the Ambassador of France to South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, H.E. David Martinon, for a special edition of Coffee with the Ambassador. Organised in celebration of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, the event created space for candid intergenerational dialogue on global affairs, the challenges facing multilateralism and the importance of more equitable global governance structures.

The programme continues this weekend with a family-focused Art & Crêpe workshop led by Muriel Huet on Saturday, 16 May. Presented in French and English, the workshop invites children aged 4 to 7 to explore the world of Henri Matisse through playful art activities centered on colour and shape, accompanied by crêpes at Dibukafé. Dibukafé will host the launch of the exhibition Growing Up Across Borders on 21 May from 3pm. Developed through the Growing Up across Border (GRABS) project and funded by the European Research Council and Université Paris 8, in partnership with the Refugee Children’s Project, the exhibition explores migration, belonging and identity through the creative work of young people growing up in contexts of forced migration. RSVP here.
