Throughout 2026, French-language professionals from eight Southern African countries are taking part in a regional training programme for DELF-DALF examiners and markers.
The Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the French Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi is organising five online training sessions in partnership with the regional coordination of the Alliances Françaises network. Four sessions have already been completed or are currently under way, with the final session, dedicated to DALF C1-C2, scheduled for October.
Together, the courses cover the full range of proficiency levels, from DELF A1.1 to DALF C2. Participants develop the methods and practical skills required to assess written and oral work according to France Éducation international standards.
The programme brings together participants from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its online format enables professionals from across the region to participate while encouraging consistent assessment practices between examination centres. Accredited trainers Dr Albertus Barkhuizen and Mme Layal Abdallah Scheppel lead the sessions, combining theoretical guidance with practical assessment activities.
By qualifying new examiners and markers across eight countries, the programme expands the region’s capacity to offer DELF-DALF examinations. It also supports reliable assessment and wider access to internationally recognised French-language qualifications throughout Southern Africa.
