2024 Gerard Sekoto Award winner Lusanda Ndita presents first solo exhibition

Arts and Creative Industries

Gallery MOMO in Parktown North will host Indlela ibomvu, a solo exhibition by Lusanda Ndita, recipient of the 2024 Absa L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award, supported by the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS). The exhibition will be on view from 13 June to 11 July 2026.

Presented by Absa in partnership with Gallery MOMO, SANAVA and IFAS, the exhibition marks an important milestone in Ndita’s artistic development following his recognition through one of South Africa’s leading visual arts awards.

Through a new body of work, Indlela ibomvu explores themes of memory, migration and inheritance. Drawing on domestic archives, oral histories and personal narratives, Ndita reflects on the journeys of absent paternal figures while examining the ways in which family histories are remembered, transmitted and reinterpreted across generations.

The Gerard Sekoto Award, presented as part of the Absa L’Atelier competition, supports emerging South African artists through professional development opportunities and international exposure.
