Save the date: Fête de la Musique Joburg 2025

Arts and Creative Industries

Fête de la Musique returns to Victoria Yards for its 14th edition on Saturday, 21 June 2025!

This year’s festival will be especially significant as it coincides with World Music Day and marks the 50th anniversary of UNESCO’s International Music Day. Additionally, 2025 marks 30 years of IFAS in South Africa, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to fostering artistic and cultural exchange.

About Fête de la Musique

Originally launched in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique has become a global celebration, now held in over 120 countries. Since arriving in Johannesburg 14 years ago, it has grown into one of the city’s most anticipated cultural events, offering free performances across diverse genres. Over the years, the festival has welcomed Msaki, BCUC, Samthing Soweto, Vaudou Game, Nakhane, and many more. It continues to serve as a launchpad for emerging talent, fostering  artistic growth and cross-cultural collaboration. Fête de la Musique Joburg is organised by IFAS and coproduced by Bassline, with the invaluable support of TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa.

As we celebrate 30 years of IFAS in South Africa, we are proud to continue providing platforms like Fête de la Musique that support artistic expression and cultural exchange. This festival is not only a celebration of music but also an opportunity for artists to develop their craft, connect with new audiences, and be part of a larger creative network, – Dorine Lebreton, Cultural Attaché and Deputy Director of IFAS.
