Naomi Grewan selected for Louis-Lumière International Sound Documentary Summer Programme

Arts and Creative Industries
From 11 July to 31 August 2025, Naomi Grewan joins 11 international audiovisual professionals at the renowned ENS Louis-Lumière for the 5th edition of this immersive programme, where she will deepen her skills in crafting powerful documentaries told solely through sound. Her residency is fully supported by the French Institute of South Africa.

Naomi is the current Communications Manager and Podcast Producer at Radio Workshop. A Cape Town-based organisation, Radio Workshop trains youth across Africa to make radio and podcasts—providing them with the tools and equipping them with the skills to produce their own content. Through her work there, she has contributed to the training of over 5,000 youth reporters across 10 African countries, reaching up to 9 million weekly listeners and produced audio documentaries on LGBTQ+ rights, climate change and access to education, among other pertinent issues.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Naomi said: “I’m excited for the opportunity to be trained in an approach to audio storytelling that I’m unfamiliar with. In addition to this being an opportunity to develop my craft, it’s also an opportunity to join a community of people who share the same passion. Seven weeks with others who share the same love for sound and storytelling sounds like a dream, and I can’t wait to get there!”
