Open call: Demystifying AI for Animation & VFX

Arts and Creative Industries

Demystifying AI for Animation & VFX is a two-day intensive workshop designed to move beyond the buzz and put generative AI directly into the hands of creators. Using ComfyUI, participants will gain practical skills to design and control AI-driven workflows for production-ready animation and visual effects. Alongside hands-on creation, the workshop opens space for critical discussion on copyright, ethics, authorship, environmental impact, and the wider implications of AI for South Africa’s audiovisual industries.

What is ComfyUI? ComfyUI is an open-source, node-based interface for AI-driven image and animation generation. It allows artists to create complex visual effects and animations with accessible, practical workflows, integrating seamlessly into existing production environments. No previous programming experience is required
