Fête de la Musique Johannesburg 2026: Full programme announced

The French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) and Bassline are pleased to announce the full programme for the 15th Johannesburg edition of Fête de la Musique, taking place on Saturday, 20 June 2026 at Victoria Yards.

Created in France in 1982 and now celebrated in more than 120 countries, Fête de la Musique promotes free access to live music and provides opportunities for both emerging and established artists to perform before new audiences.

This year’s Johannesburg edition will feature 18 performances across three music stages, alongside the return of RedCircle by TEDxJohannesburg, an interactive platform inviting members of the public to share ideas, memories and reflections inspired by music.

The 2026 line-up features acts selected from more than 300 applications by a panel of international and local music experts. Headliners include Zoë Modiga, The Brother Moves On, and lordkez, alongside artists Renaissance, [kimetsu.], Zykes Madiga, Thoknique, Namakau Star, Tessi Nandi, Thula Khumalo, Measuretutti Vocal Ensemble, Little Music School in the Valley, Shameless Band, Lesedi Ntsane, and Khulu. Poets include Zama Madinana, Xtremepoet, and SheisMitch. Hector Dibakoane will MC the event at Victoria Yards.

RedCircle by TEDxJohannesburg

Throughout the afternoon, RedCircle by TEDxJohannesburg will provide a space for public participation and conversation.

The programme will feature appearances by SheisMitch and Zama Madinana, while the remaining sessions will be open to audience members wishing to share a one-minute idea, memory, reflection, confession, question or story inspired by the theme: ‘The Songs I Return To’.

Attendance and tickets

Attendance is free.

Tickets for the Johannesburg edition are available through Webtickets. A total of 3,000 tickets are available for advance booking, while a further 1,000 places will be allocated to walk-in attendees on the day of the event. As capacity is limited, attendees are encouraged to book in advance and arrive early.
