The Services for Africa Gaming & Esports (SAGES) has a mission to unleash the talent of Africa esports players while connecting the African continent to the growing global esports ecosystem.

As a part of its ongoing intervention into esports, SAGES supported the Swahili Esports Championship. Taking place from 17 – 19 November 2023, during the NAICCON Festival, the championship kicked off the first ever 100% female Tekken African competition. Here 10 champions from across the African continent accepted an invitation from Kenyan champion, Sylvia Gathoni Wahome aka QueenArrow. Players from Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Benin, Madagascar, Senegal, Ivory Coast and South Africa accepted and took part in the championship.

Representing South Africa, with support from the French Institute of South Africa, esport player Carla ‘Fable’ September.  A tough battle, we are happy to congratulate September for coming in third place.

A continent-wide event, SAGES has an expansive African footprint with more than twenty esport partners. As a part of its support of SAGES, Institut français is enabling the participation of the French cultural network.
