WATCH: Second coproduction webinar offers insight into a collaborative future

Arts and Creative Industries

On 2 November 2023, the French Institute of South Africa hosted the second Q&A webinar on the Audiovisual and Cinematographic Coproduction Agreement between France and South Africa. Looking to explore the newly ratified agreement, the second webinar focused on the implementation and practical aspect through case studies of existing coproductions between the two countries.

The webinar was an open conversation between the filmmaking public and representatives from Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC), the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), the Department of Trade and International Competition (DTIC) as well as the production companies Natives at Large, Empreinte Digitale and Paradoxal.

During the one-and-a-half hour webinar, film practitioners received insight and got to ask questions related to international market pre-sales, distribution, financing, co-financing, coproduction agreement processes and an audiovisual future centred around intercontinental collaboration.
