SanKliché Montre-Moi ta Ville, the new collaborative French learning application

Education

SanKliché is a mobile micro-learning application that allows everyone to improve their level of French while meeting a community of learners in France and around the world.

In 2018, after 15 years as a French teacher, Saliha Ouldyerou began to imagine an innovative online learning method that would link active and collaborative learning to an immersive discovery of French and African cultures. This reflection led to the creation of Sankliché Montre-Moi ta Ville, a French microlearning solution available on mobile. The idea is to put learners back at the heart of the learning process and allow them to practice the language freely and spontaneously in immersion in the culture and daily life of a French learner. Each micro-lesson invites you to discover a new city, without clichés, through its local farmers’ markets and traditional arts and crafts.

The application was launched on Monday, October 11, 2021 as part of the New Africa-France Summit with the support of the Cooperation and Cultural Action Departments of the French Embassies in South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi, and Rwanda.

The learning materials are co-created by fifteen French-speaking students and their professors from the universities of Johannesburg, Stellenbosch, Pietermaritzburg (South Africa), Montpellier (France), and Kigali (Rwanda). The application offers short lessons for better memorisation, a variety of fun resources (videos, texts, photos, quizzes…), and a wide range of multi-level courses to choose from. These lessons are available for free online and offline via the mobile app.
