In december, Stade français – Paris Rugby Club came to Johannesburg to play against the Lions of Johannesburg at Ellis Park for the Challenge cup.
At this occasion, Stade français, in partnership with the French embassy in South Africa, the French High School Jules Verne and Sport for Social Change Network (SSCN), wished to share good memories, especially with young rugby players.
On the 14th at Wits University, Stade Français did an open training session, where they were visited by young rugby players from Alexandra Rugby Club and from the French High School. It was an opportunity for the young rugby players to see how professional rugby players are training.
The next day, on the 15th, a rugby tournament between young girls and boys from the French High School, Alexandra Rugby Club and SSCN had been held at the French High Scool. The players from the Stade français and the children played and discussed all together. Early Christmas gifts were given by Stade français before the school holidays.
Promoting friendship and building bridges through sport between South Africa and France is one of the main priorities of this Embassy. These opportunities have surely made lasting memories in particular on the eve of the Festive Season.
