The 8th annual Francophonie Festival – Pretoria 11 to 30 March 2017

Education

The annual Francophonie Festival at the Alliance Française Pretoria is a platform available to Embassies, Institutions, Francophone and Francophiles in Pretoria for the promotion of French cultural and linguistic diversity. The festival is a great way to learn about other cultures and explore the creative artistry of the many countries that speak French.

Since 2010, more than 25 countries have collaborated each year to present an array of experiences all rooted in the Francophone cultures – from Africa to the Americas to Asia to the Middle East.

This year, participating countries include Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Canada, Chad, Comoros, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, France, Gabon, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, RDC, Seychelles, Senegal, Switzerland, Togo, and Tunisia.

This year’s Francophonie Festival will have a special focus on sports, as Côte d’Ivoire is hosting the Francophonie Games in Abidjan and France is launching its candidacy for the Olympic Games (Paris 2024).

The opening will take place at the Alliance Française Pretoria (99 Rivier Street, Sunyside) on Saturday 11 March 2017 from 11am until 5.30pm with special guest of honour Masego ‘Maps’ Maponyane.
