The Tigritudes Pan-African film cycle is well underway in South Africa after its time in Zambia, Morocco, Senegal, Kenya, and Burkina Faso.
Starting in Pretoria and Centurion, the cycle will continue across the country with Johannesburg as its next stop. Covering the inner city, the east, south and north of Johannesburg, the Tigritudes programme has screenings lined up at Wits University, the Sibikwa Arts Centre, Of Soul and Joy, The Bioscope, the Sophiatown Arts Akademy and the Dibuka Multimedia Library at the Alliance Française of Johannesburg.
Curated by leading women in the world of cinema: Dyana Gaye and Valérie Osouf, Tigritudes is a solution towards recognising the depth and prowess of the still largely unknown canon of African cinema. Through support from the French Embassy, the French Institute of South Africa, local and international partners and supporters, the cycle is free to the public in South Africa.
