The Embassy of France is seeking to appoint an assisting manager of the Campus France
South Africa office who will be involved in promoting French higher education in South Africa
and in the managing of the yearly scholarship programme of the Embassy.
Campus France is an international organisation created by the French Ministry of Europe and
Foreign Affairs, and the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The
purpose of the organisation is to promote the French higher education system (HES), support
and welcome international students and researchers, and manage scholarships on behalf of
various funding bodies across the world.
The Campus France office in South Africa exists to promote the French higher education
system (HES) and to assist students who choose to study in France, through practical
information and advice.
The position is located within the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action at the
Embassy of France in South Africa (Pretoria), and reports directly to the Manager of Campus
France South Africa.In order to promote the French HES and to increase the number of South African students who
choose to study in France, the incumbent is expected to carry out tasks that may relate to the
following:
- Social media – Create and implement content schedules and campaigns. Create,
schedule and manage content on the social media platforms. Manage the community on
each platform (respond to comments and messages, for example). - Website – Regularly update the website with up-to-date information that is relevant to
students, parents and researchers who are interested in France, and to students and
researchers who are currently in France. - Events – organise and represent the Campus France office in webinars, student fairs,
Campus France events, other relevant events and meetings as they relate to the promotion
of the French HES. - Etudes en France platform – manage platform and process student applications and previsa applications.
- Orientation – advise students on the steps to follow in order to study in France, from
understanding the French HES, to finding courses and funding, to preparing students for
their stay in France. - France – South Africa Scholarship Programme – assist in the processing and
interviewing of applicants. Prepare laureates for their departure from South Africa and their stay in France. Maintain contact with students and obtain testimonials, whilst in France and upon return, in various formats (social media, website articles, videos). - France Alumni network – manage the South Africa platform and chapter of the France
Alumni network. - Liaise and coordinate with service providers, local education institutions and high schools, French institutions of higher education, other Campus France offices in various countries as well as the head offices in France, the French consulates and various South African partners of the Embassy of France in South Africa, etc.
The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:
Essential requirements
- Excellent English
- Ability to compose complex written documents in English
- Good knowledge of French language (B2 level, minimum)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in the use of all aspects of MS Office Suite
Desired requirements
- Knowledge of South African higher education system
- A degree or an experience obtained in France is an advantage
- Knowledge in social media & website management and marketing
Position open to:
Citizens or permanent residents in South Africa or applicants who are legally in a position to
work in South Africa. A valid work permit is compulsory.
Conditions:
Fixed-term 9 months contract with IFAS;
38 hours a week;
Gross salary: R 31 335 per month + Benefits: 13th cheque + medical aid and pension fund.
Position located in Pretoria, at the Embassy of France.
Dates: March to November 2023.
